Diffusion of Excellence's annual VHA Shark Tank Competition identifies field-developed innovations that promote positive outcomes and improve experiences for Veterans and employees. The competition spotlights dedicated VA employees who are addressing some of the toughest challenges at VA and provides a platform for frontline team members to contribute to our learning health care system.

Contraception on Demand

Expanding access to contraceptive care for Veterans

Contraception on Demand trains pharmacy practitioners to conduct patient-centered contraceptive counseling and to effectively prescribe hormonal contraception; improving Veteran experiences with reproductive care at VA and expanding the scope of practice for VA clinical pharmacists.

VMET

Veterans Mental Evaluation Team

VMET assists in responding to calls involving local law enforcement interactions with Veterans in crisis. The team, which includes a VA clinician and a VA police officer, conducts outreach efforts to contact "at risk" Veterans who have stopped showing up for their psychiatric care at their VA facility.

The White Noise Project distributes simple, effective, and safe white noise machines to hospitals across the country, providing patients with increased sleep and decreased anxiety in the hospital and at home.
